Crarae Garden is a unique place that boasts strong links to the Himalayas, both climactically and ecologically – it’s a mystical, beautiful garden and hidden gorge with ever-changing vistas.
The brief challenged us to engage and inform visitors about history, archaeology, exploration, country house life and varied plant and animal species, and to appeal to diverse audiences, from serious botanists to young children, in a way that would reflect the serenity of the space.
Result: We interpreted this special place using natural materials sympathetic to the environment, with flags, poetry stones and natural hidden sculptures. The stunning gardens remain a place to enjoy and explore whilst delivering the quality guarantee of the National Trust for Scotland brand.
